4.5KM Around TPM
It began when our IT department heads had the idea of a run around Technology Park Malaysia (TPM).(yes, difficult to believe but 100% true) A jogathon! How i marvelled at the idea. Eager participants were me, Khor, Chua, Hietesh and Zhen. The next day on 18th of July 2006, five of us changed into our awkward jogging suits and started warming up at 6.25pm. Imagine an group of odd ducks wobbling toward the front of our building. Mind you, there were lots of curious stares directed on to us. But we shrugged those off and continued our adventure.
I was already a frequent runner around my condo block which is about 1km on perimeter and was running averagely 4km per session. So, I'm excited to try out this new terrain.
The TPM run started with a 500 meter dash on leveled stretch and continue with a steady climb for another nvr-ending slope. One can hear our muscle crying about tat time. Then we have steep 4 or 5 crazeeee hills to run up and down. i'll try to catch a picture or two and post em up later.
Chua and Hietesh
**Chua is small framed and was a state swimmer.
**Hietesh is older with a belly. He is my company GM. Plays golf i guess.
They ran up for about 1km then started walking. No competition there. But maye given time....who knows
Zhen
**Zhen is lean and tall plus he was quite fit awhile back as he was active in taekwando or karate
For the first 2km, Zhen gave me a good competition. He had me tailed and i felt the pressure alrite. My running was a little disturbed too. But then his stamina lets up and i had the peace of mind to concentrate catching up on Khor.
~I beat him, yeah...he is my immediate boss hehehe~
My competitor
Khor
**Khor is tall and slightly muscular too. He is seriously a good runner a year or two back. He seem to be bless with good genes.
Khor who runs averagely less than once in a week, was a checkpoint permanantly stapled 100 meters in front of me.(Teng!{cantonese}) I tried a steady run up hills and using the downhill advantage. But to no avail, Khor won the first jogathon. Khor had tat strategy up his sleeves too.
I feel success at the back of my hand. If only turning my palm down can be so easy.
Khor will be my next short term goal. But i know he will upkeep his run to make sure i dont get to overtake him.....a bit 'kiasu'. Malaysians and Singaporean will understand this word. Meaning: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiasu
